Correspondence Highlight Jeffrey Epstein and former Trump strategist Ties

Steve Bannon
Bannon was one of the former president's top strategists prior to resigning from the administration in 2017

In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly Donald Trump's chief strategist, visited the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.

The event was interrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, who was due to board a flight that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters slowed down my talk I doubt I can catch the plane we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "That. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "You are an amazing assistant".

These exchanges were published on this week alongside over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the deceased financier convicted of sex crimes.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's name is redacted. Media outlets has been able to establish his involvement by matching the timeline, events, and places mentioned.

For example, Epstein discusses arranging a plane from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union two days later.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of the president's key aides in the lead-up to the 2016 election and during the initial phase of his first administration, but stepped down from the White House in August 2017.

He has admitted he was making a film about Epstein before his death and reportedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his show recently, he stated: "We plan to release the film, the five-part series, next year - early next year."

But the newly released documents indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A few days before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the most highly paid booking agent in the world ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "U r quite capable assistant", to which Epstein replied "Massages. Excluded".

Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you are well looked after."

UK Politics Mentioned in Exchanges

The published communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in 2018.

Earlier on the day of his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the EU exit issue this day with Farage, Johnson and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a reference to Theresa May, the embattled UK prime minister at the period, he added: "The guys are attempting to proceed. May today / tomorrow…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think remaining as much as you can in the UK. Ideal- so people get the commitment of your follow through."

Shortly after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa may survive". Bannon answered: "I don't see how however the guys over here have no balls" and noted "Boris ; Gove; Rees Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to step up".

Theresa May was finally removed in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for Reform UK told the BBC: "Nigel Farage has not been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The Congress will vote soon on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files related to its probe into Epstein, who died in prison in that year.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was reignited this week after the publication of more than 20,000 documents from his estate.

A portion of those referenced the former president, who has repeatedly rejected any wrongdoing. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for a long time, but claims they parted ways in the 2000s, two years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
