During an inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “reimagine” New York City, ushering in “a different age” and an ambitious start to his term.

A Groundbreaking Mayor

The young political star, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He additionally marked a milestone by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
